I know you reviewed the Linux Mint Bianca KDE edition, but I think you should look at the new Cassandra. I think it is a huge improvement.

Puppy Linux : runs from RAM and detects most hardware, even detects WiFi connection on my laptop.

Puppy Linux... It is so small that it can run form RAM... And that makes is really fast... Oh, and it detects most peripherals.

Xandros is a great distro, but, it includes lots of property software, some in-house developed. Also its not free (but there is a 30 day free trial).
