Why You Need a PDA Phone
Currently I have a dying Sony Ericsson P800, one of the early breeds of smart phones with a touch screen and stylus. It offers full web browsing and various other charming features but the screen is scratched to hell and it's not quite running with the sharpness that it had when new - leading me into the search for a new mobile. But, despite my current provider's (O2) best efforts of offering me a "common" phone; I am persevering in attempting to find a phone I could live with. However, I need a phone that is more than just a means of calling/texting people.
The top reasons for my love of PDA style phones are: 1. Full web browsing = Multimap
Allowing you to get accurate street maps based on your location onto your handset, which has aided my travels immeasurably in recent years - even directing me to the interview to my current employer.
2. Full web browsing = Information Overload
In a recent meeting with our mortgage brokers I needed to obtain some accurate information (namely the name and address of the doctor who I was registered with). Full web browsing allowed me to grab this information quickly and easily whilst looking professional.
3. Note making
Quite often I'm in situations where I either need to take notes or write down ideas, and the ability to do so in a manner that looks professional is key.
4. Image
Everyone Tom, Dick and Harry has a Nokia whatever, but having a proper PDA phone creates a positive image to those who don't know you (as well as to criminals - not a good thing...) and this is beneficial. It helps you stand out in the crowd and provides a good talking point with strangers.
5. Customisability
You can install a variety of applications on a smart-phone to quench your thirst for interactivity. The ability to manipulate spreadsheets on the move can be undeniably useful.
