Why website.xxx domains would be good for the internet

A while ago there was a reasonable discussion as to whether the use of .xxx domains would be a good thing or not and ultimately the verdict was a resounding no. But why not? I personally believe the use of .xxx domains would be good for both adult websites and regular web users.

The original notion...
was to create a new set of domains so that sites could become www.awebsite.xxx.

Why that would be good
I'd personally like all the "adult" content on the internet to be distinguishable by the domain and filterable for the same reason. All too often innocent searches return something less than wholesome and while I'm not a parent at the moment, when that day does come I'd like the internet to be a sufficiently sheltered place. Yes filtering and whatnot is good at the moment, but if 99% of adult websites were moved to .xxx domains then there would be very little confusion.

Let's face it, pornography is one of the biggest businesses on the internet but it's a shame that it's interspersed with everything else. There are very few circumstances where I'll want to see adult content when I wasn't actively searching for it.

Put all the porn in one place
If all the porn was put on a series of .xxx domains then a random stumble across the .com world wouldn't have quite so many NSFW sites.

Ultimately if you want porn, you can find it, but if you don't want it you can filter out all .xxx domains. Pure and simple logic that the world rejected.
