Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn due for release in two days

The latest, greatest and sexiest version of Ubuntu is due out in two days (at the time of writing) so I thought it worthwhile making a little announcement to ensure no-one forgets.

According to the Ubuntu wiki the next release is due on April 19th 2007, which just so happens to be Thursday two days from now. It looks to be a good release (as I mentioned when I reviewed an older version). It looks to be good and I'll hope to review the release within a day or two of it going public.

So if you're interested in coming over to Linux, this release would be worth getting. I'm looking forward to seeing how good this massively popular distro is getting.

I entirely agree with you. This is the year all the hard work is going to get done I think - distros will progress and surpass Windows for usability (if they haven’t already) and 2008 will likely be the big one.

If it happens at all, which I hope it does.

Whereas I know this release already does a lot to smooth out the bumps for Windows users, I don’t think it’s going to be mainstream ready for another couple of release cycles and a LOT of hardware manufacturer support.

People are touting 2007 as Linux’s but I think 2008 is going to be the year where we see the real gains.
