Trouble ahead for Sony
Let me ponder on that for a moment. Sony could lose their shirts over this situation. They're missing the key commercial event that is Xmas, they're letting both competitors put out cheaper products months (years for MS) ahead of their own... and they are still unable to guarantee a release date.
Furthermore, it's entirely possible that customers will purchase the PS3 purely for it's Blu-ray capabilities and by extension not buy any games. If this trend developed, it could spell financial woe for Sony - who are making a financial loss on the consoles themselves in order to keep it "affordable" (stop sniggering at the back), and make the profit on the games.
All of this leads to a devastating loss of market share. Can Sony *really* afford this?
Personally, I think Nintendo has the best product. Nintendo are the most profitable of the three, they appeal to the female gaming market more (with games like Pikmin rather than Manhunt) and have an iconic history. I would certainly purchase a Wii ahead of a PS3. Speaking to collegues, I am not on my own and this could spell trouble ahead for Sony - who may be relying too much on the success of their previous two consoles.
