Stumble Crawler: automatic StumbleUpon submission and review tool

I was recently pointed in the direction of an exciting new tool put out by Digerati Marketing. What they've made is really quite clever but I have a few issues with it.

Digerati Marketing have created the Stumble Crawler; a clever application that can cut massive corners off your social network self-promotion. So the obvious question is:

What does it do?
Well it's not a complicated concept (although I'm certain it was a pain to develop). You give it your StumbleUpon login credentials so that it can authenticate as you. You then give it a URL to spider and it will index all your pages and submit a review of them to StumbleUpon.

Why would you ever want this?
It's not hard to imagine why you'd want to use this. Traffic is key and StumbleUpon is a massive bringer of traffic (if used correctly), yet submitting your own content to SU can be a tedious task at the best of times - writing reviews for them manually... So this application will pretend to be you and submit all your content to the site.

I can't think of a faster way to get banned
That's the major downside to this application. The anti-cheating algorithms for sites like Reddit and Digg are quite advanced and I'm willing to believe StumbleUpon have an algorithm or two in place to stop users from leveraging it quite this severely. You're providing your login details so they know who you are and you'll be submitting a LOT of URLs at the same time, all with the same review attached. It's not going to be hard for them to work out that you've been a little naughty.

It's a great idea but not one I'll be trying. It's a little evil and I couldn't face having Seopher.com blacklisted from StumbleUpon - especially considering they're my second biggest provider of traffic (behind Google). Still, a great little tool - I'm just concerned at the ramifications of using such a thing. Check it out.

Guys, please read the StumbleUpon TOS. Creating second accounts at SU is prohibited and grounds for revocation of your accounts.

There is some logic to their position on this. They don’t want you gaming their system by giving multiple thumbs up or thumbs down to the same sites.

Hi Pete,
I’ve used it, but only in moderation and with an account that I don’t mind losing. I also intermingle random websites alongside my own.
Cheers!

Hi, thanks for looking at the tool. Just in response, the "anti-spam" measures SU have in place are that you can’t submit more than 15 URLs from the same domain in 24 hours. That’s it.

We’ve been using this tool for a week at "max capacity" and haven’t had a ban, blackmark, nudge, warning or wink yet.

If you’re that worried, you can always use a secondary account - making extra Stumble accounts is easy... I’m glad you liked the tool though, there’s actually something much, much better in the pipeline for next month. This, in contrast is merely a proof on concept.
Mark

I’d love to hear from folks who has used this...
Pete
