RSS meltdown - everyone loses half their readers

Today Feedburner has had a bit of a meltdown, with most blogs having their statistics halved.

I first thought something was awry when I logged in and saw I only had 280 subscribers today; I know weekends are quiet but that was 200 less than I was expecting. Typically I wandered over to a couple of other blogs that I use for some validation and it appears that it's happened to a lot of people.

John Chow has lost a good 8,000 readers, Problogger has lost around 15,000 and countless more blogs have lost loads too.

The problem appears to be Google
Google feedfetcher is having "issues" today apparently, so the general feeling is that it's only a temporary glitch. Read the post on Problogger explaining what's going on.

Things should return to normal tomorrow. Either way, it's not done any favours to my campaign of pushing beyond 500 subscribers.
