Review: BinaryJoy - a place for gamers

Overview
The site is broken down into three categories: reviews, news and features. Reviews and news are reasonably self explanatory, with features being more of an "off-track" area where the author writes articles that defy classification in the other two sections.
Reviews
Spending some time reading the site highlights that the author actually does love gaming, evident by the attention to detail in the writing. The reviews are reasonably lengthy and while there are seldom sub headers within them, the content is largely compelling. It's refreshing to read individual reviews of games, away from the large media bias that often translates graphical awe to good game play.
News
Is what you expect really. Sporadic retro gaming news from god-knows-where - it's nice to see some slightly different material from time to time, away from the tired arguments of which console is best and the financial stats to support each argument.
Improvements
There are a few things that I think would improve BinaryJoy. Firstly I'd love to see the author rip into a game that was especially poor because most of the reviews are positive - clearly there's more interest in writing about things you like but I would really like to see how a negative review would pan out.
I also think that some extra formatting of posts would be welcome, bringing in sub headers into reviews would allow readers to target specific areas such as game play, sound or graphics and make the body of text less imposing.
I'd also really like to see more focus on time-sensitive material, such as the previewing of new games but that's the authors prerogative.
Conclusion
If you enjoy some retro gaming then this is your place, not a massive site but it appears to have a loyal and willing following so there's surely only good things coming to the site.
