Reports show Google is 90-95% of the search engine market
I've gone back through the Analytics for Seopher.com since January 1st 2007 and investigated how much traffic Google has sent compared to the other search engines. The results were as I expected - and no less concerning.
2010 (Jan 1st to August 30th)
Google has sent 85,779 users to the site with a market share of 89.87%, with Yahoo in second place with 5.06%.
2009
Google sent 192,208 users compared to Yahoo's 4,576, dominating with an impressive 95.32% of all search engine traffic.
2008
Google sent 138,446 users constituting 95.82% of all search traffic to the site.
2007
Google sent 100,997 users representing 96.54% of all search engine visitors.
So while I've always known in my heart that Google is such a powerful force on the Internet, their dominance on the search engine market (specifically for tech-blogs and web-savvy users - i.e. my demographic). This year is the most open it's ever been and that still shows Google has having ~90% of all search engine traffic.
I'm curious as to what other tech-sites have as their search engine breakdowns. I'd invite you to comment but I've turned commenting off because of the unlrenting spam. Email me at steven.york@seopher.com, I'd love to hear if your search engine stats are as one-sided as mine.
