Nintendo Will Come Out #1

Christmas is only a couple of months away and Nintendo must be rubbing their hands together at the thought of an untapped market's worth of sales. Microsoft's Xbox360 was out a year ago and Sony's PS3 is due to miss Christmas by several months - leaving Nintendo as this year's must have console.

While Sony are facing a massive financial headache with the PS3 and MS happy with their sales over the past year, Nintendo truly have the ability to take the #1 spot they truly deserve.

Not only are they the most profitable out of the three, but they are one of the only companies to appreciate the gains of the female gaming market. While the PS3 has games like Manhunt, the Nintendo has games like Pikmin. Nintendo have focused for a long time on making "fun" games, which largely appeal to a wide age/gender combination, which maximises their potential market. The advantage of involving female gamers is one often overlooked, but while they are unlikely to represent a true 50%, they are still a healthy slice of the market.

Nintendo WiiSo, Nintendo has both the time and the market on it's side, not to mention it's launch price is exponentially lower than that of the PS3 - it looks like it good be a very good christmas indeed for those chaps at Nintendo... That is provided people are happy buying a product called Wii.

So the setup is perfect for Nintendo to reclaim their console crown, and this author hopes they do - this feeling is spawned on by memories of sitting crossed legged infront of a SNES in the early 90's. While the young gamers will have missed this, those of us who didn't seem to look at the Wii with warm eyes, and, more than likely, there will be one under my christmas tree "To me, from Me"
