MS vs Google? But what about me?

It looks like times are really hard at the moment. Microsoft are worried about Google, AMD must be looking at their bank balance with a concerned eye, Amazon are counting the pennies, I cannot afford a settee... Wherever you look there are financial concerns; although i'm certain my lack of furniture is more dire than MS worrying about losing it's chokingly tight grasp on consumers. Watching a 32" LCD Tv from the floor seems like an injustice.

So what is the obvious solution? I already have a job, MS already have an established client-base, Amazon have stock (apparently), and yet these financial concerns are still prominant. For me, it's a simple case of not earning *much* more than i'm spending. For MS, it's a case of not earning as much as you *were* earning, or *could be* earning - slightly different concepts i'm sure you'll agree.

Years ago, MS were worried that their Office package was going to die - a worrying prospect when it accounts for nearly 50% of your sales. Obviously, those concerns were wrong because Office is as strong as it's ever been and has an uncountable number of dependant businesses (including MS themselves). Yet, we are hearing the same again - clearly threatened by "Google Office" (GAYD or whatever people are calling it). Is this more worrying without due reason?

A good question. Google desktops *are* awfully popular, being a scalable, flexible, polished product. How often are those adjectives used against MS products?

Is it time for the gloves to come off? These two have never been shy about rivalry but I would like to see some real childish behaviour. True, this doesn't put a settee in my living room, nor does it replenish my modest looking account. It would, however, make me smile.

So, how can I get enough money to stop feeling amused by corporate foolishness? Answers on a postcard to the normal email address. Clicking my adsense always helps, $1 at a time, i'll earn my fortunes.
