Microsoft's Xbox rewards caused massive disappointment

As a keen gamer who has owned most games consoles known to man, I was an Xbox early adopter back in 2002 when the console was launched. So when Microsoft said they'd give early adopters lots of extra stuff when they reduced their prices - I was happy. Apart from the fact that my extras never came and no one at Microsoft wanted to know.

I bought a version one Xbox a few weeks after launch with a couple of games and little else, setting me back somewhere towards ?350-?400. So I was slightly annoyed when 6 months later Microsoft slashed the prices. However I was happy once again when they announced that early adopters would be rewarded with extra gear. On offer was 3 games and a second controller (if I remember correctly).

All you needed to do was fill out a form with things like the serial number of the console and attach the receipt and Microsoft would ship you your bonuses.

A lovely reward for early adopters, only, I never got mine.

Driving home from work this evening I realised that I never actually received my rewards. I remember a friend of mine receiving his and that meant that I needed to start chasing Microsoft to question where my reward was.

5 or 6 unanswered emails later I tried calling a customer services number who just didn't want to know. So I never received my rewards. Thanks for the undeniably **** service Microsoft. I bought the console when it was v1.0 and buggy, spent a lot of money on it and while everyone else was sent their rewards I was left out and never got so much as a "sorry" from anyone. My emails were ignored and my phonecall entirely unproductive.

Good work guys, I'll happily not buy another of your consoles again. And yes, this was the ORIGINAL Xbox. Needless to say I've not bought a 360.

i hardly play it, i am thoughly dissapointed with what it offers, wishing id saved my money and got a wii or even a ps3 (although im not convinced thats worth the £££ either but at least it has an blueray dvd drive)

all in all i play my ps2 more then the 360.
First wave buyers are always playing Operation: Human Shield when it comes down to technology.

I’ve fairly successfully managed to wait these things out made slightly easier by my PC being the only thing I really game on. Upgrading that is usually done in modular chunks so it’s easy to justify the relatively small price at the time.
