Lux Luther's guide to making millions: invest in dating websites

There are two distinct income models on the Internet; one is based around a new idea that people love, the other is based around a staple but executed perfectly.

Lex Luther understood and worked to the second model (wikipedia) in his lust for land. In the latest movie he stated that you can always print more money, make more diamonds but you can't make more land. This translates through to the Internet in many ways because there are staples that will always exist - and I'll explain how the money is made shortly. But first let's look at the concept of a "fresh" idea.

#1 - A fresh idea
lex luther What you need is a good idea that hasn't been done (well) before. Ensure it's developed properly and sufficient love has gone into it's creation and you might have something like Youtube in your hands. Youtube is a simple notion well executed - but it was one of the first big video sites. Look at Amazon; they were one of the first big e-commerce sites. If you can jump onto a fresh concept quickly enough then you can make millions - but that's not what this post is about.

#2 - Satisfy the staples and make billions
The example I'm going to use is dating and I have a case study to support my claim. Dating agencies will always exist because meeting people is hard (well, meeting good people is) so users are willing to pay nominal fees to be introduced to others. Being lonely is an awful affliction and one that will always impact upon millions of people every single day. It's very much like land - there will always be a need for it.

What makes dating an excellent business model is because it's renewable. Relationships start and end every day so you have potentially millions upon millions of customers - something a lot of e-commerce sites will not have.

The case study - plentyoffish
PlentyofFish.com is a dating website run by one man (Markus Frind) which generates an estimated $10,000,000 per annum (or at least it's estimated to next year). That equates to $30,000 per day.

The site receives 500,000 unique visitors per day and around 1,200,000,000 page views per month. Markus made this idea his own and created an excellent solution to a staple and is clearly doing very well from it.

That's the only point I have to make; the real money online is through things like land - renewable assets that will always be in demand. People will always need relationships, they will always need somewhere to call their own... What else do they need? Work that out, do it well and make millions.
