JohnChow banned from Digg?

John Chow banned from Digg? An interesting turn of events for one of my favourite bloggers around. But why has this self proclaimed dotcom mogul had such hate directed his way? JohnChow.com isn't spam so I'm not certain why it was buried as being so numerous times on Digg.

In my opinion it's a well written blog from an honest man who hasn't written anything deceiving in all the time I've been reading it. It just seems petty and small minded to bury submissions containing content from a man who has achieved so much and is clearly respected within the community - hell, his blog gets some serious traffic.

Digg has faced some criticism lately and I'm sure this is going to do anything but help... People with as much to offer the web world as John shouldn't be banned from social news sites purely on the basis that a group of users take an inherent distaste to him on a personal basis. I suppose that's the risk that you run with a social site - submissions can become very personal and Digg has to counteract spam by banning URL's, I just find it shocking that this popular blog is one of them.

Although I doubt the lack of Digg will do any damage to his traffic/readership. He writes good material and really should be someone most bloggers aspire to. But seriously, submitting the story of him being banned from Digg won't result in anything good - it'll just be buried as spam and you'll run the risk of having your blog banned too. The best thing you can do is bookmark his site (JohnChow.com, subscribe to his RSS and let the information come to you.

I'm sure as he's concerned it doesn't *really* matter, after all, a man who has done as much as he is unlikely to be perturbed by having a group of "anti-chow's" knocking around. Good luck to him I say, it just reflects very badly on Digg is all.
