It's all in the name

While it is a commonly discussed concept, sometimes labelled as the American Dream, other times just referred to as justice: the notion that with the right level of hard work and application - anyone can become succesful. Success, power, money, all hinged on your willingness to work for it. But is it all that simple? Is it possible that a dynamic name such as Adam Power would propel your career further than hard work and graft could ever hope to achieve?

While this concept cannot be measured or any proof supplied, it is a common belief that success can often be a case of "who" you know rather than "what". Therefore surely having a dynamic and memorable name would leave an impression (provided you have the personality to remain memorable) would ensure a more prosperous working career.

Still not following? Right, who's name are you more likely to remember, Adam Johnson or Adam Power?

A dynamic name means the members of the board/management will talk about you more often - whether they like the name or find it comical, recongition is everything. When promotions come around, is it going to the capable unknown or the guy management talk about because of a memorable name? Exactly.

I'm not saying that success is ENTIRELY based on your name, because Steve Jobs isn't a memorable name, nor Bill Gates, but surely a surname like Power would benefit your career. Provided you're not a tool.
