iPhone madness has begun
It's hard to look around the Internet without reading about the iPhone or the media craze that surrounds it. Social news sites are swamped, convential news sites are giving it typical coverage and blogs across the Internet (including this one it seems) feel compelled to discuss the topic. Within hours of people getting the much coveted device we were seeing people taking their iPhones to pieces, some clumsy chump drop his iPhone and lots more reviews, opinions and blogging. Let's have a deeper look at the situation.
eBay
Whenever something new and interesting gets released, eBay.com becomes literally littered with people selling them. While browsing earlier I spied one lucky chap's auction for two iPhones reach more than $10,000.

There are a lot of iPhones on eBay at the moment; many going for just shy of $1000 - not bad considering they only cost $300. Nothing quite like getting 300% back on a sale. We saw this with the PS3 and we'll see this again with other objects of desire. eBay is always a good place to determine the desirability of newly released products - it just shows how much money people will pay to avoid standing in line.
Digg
Another popular haunt of mine is showing the signs of iPhone overload. At the time of writing the Apple "upcoming" news area has 601 upcoming stories. On page 1 of these upcoming stories, only 2 were not related to the iPhone.
On the front page alone of the Apple news area there are 15 stories; 14 of those directly relate to the iPhone and/or it's release. That's quite a lot of iPhone news...
I'm blogging about it, as is everyone else it seems. Social sites are going crazy, eBay is going crazy so it seems Apple has a sure-fire hit on it's hands - although the PS3 looked good in it's early days too. Take from this what you like, I feel the iPhone is just the beginning of a new chapter in Apple's commercial success.
