Improving your email marketing - simple tips and practices
Email marketing can be very cheap indeed but difficult to do well, there are more things to consider than just sending a bulk email to a lot of people. People are overly aware of spam and are very unlikely to open something they didn't request. For your email marketing to succeed you need a good mailing list full of people who have either specifically requested your content or fall directly within your key demographic. A bad mailing list is wasted money.
Offering opt-in newsletters
One of the best ways to entice customers back is to offer a newsletter (not forgetting to subscribe them to it automatically if they make a purchase). This allows interested parties to remain connected to you directly; meaning your latest offers and products can be delivered directly to the people most likely to purchase them.
Common mistakes
I wrote about why your email marketing fails back in December and all the points I made are still valid now. The article discusses what open rates you could possibly expect and how important it is to ensure that you get your moneys worth from an advertising campaign.
How to improve open rates
After reading why your email marketing fails which outlines expected open rates, it's probably worth reading another article I wrote way back in September which contains 5 key points to improve your open rates. Following those tips (which include times of day, days of the week etc) should help improve things. Did you know that adding personalisation into the start of an email ("Hello John" for example) can improve open rates by silly amounts (like 500%)? Well, they can.
Where can you get Email Marketing done?Well I'm rather clued up on Email Marketing so I'm more than happy to offer consultation but I really don't have time to implement my expertise. I can recommend a friend who runs Lobster Studios - low cost email marketing. He offers various services (including consultation) but the big focus is offering email marketing solutions for only ?300 ($600).
I'm hosting the site for him so have a vested interest in pushing him some business so if you have any questions regarding email marketing please use Lobster Studios.
