Google Pagerank update with some very odd results
Around December I was upgraded from a Pagerank of 0 to 3, something I was rather happy about after having been published in numerous places like LinuxToday. I was accepted into 9rules in December too so felt that by the time the next update was due - I'd be ready to move up again.
I did, Seopher.com is now appearing as PR5. Good news? Well, it would be if Google wasn't handing out Pagerank like it was going out of style.
New sites with PR4?
I started a motoring blog called TorqueToday only a month ago and have only posted a few pieces of content on there. TorqueToday is now listed as having PR4 while I would have expected a PR0. A friend - AndrewSellick.com is also a newcomer and while he has experienced excellent levels of traffic recently; I assumed a PR2 would be his best chance given the relative age of the site. He too has gained a PR4.
Oli at ThePCSpy has stayed PR5 despite being esablished for many years and enjoying plenty of traffic. Even a friend of mine's site (Ash-graphics) which remains largely untouched was awarded a PR3 - an odd decision considering it barely has any backlinks or content.
So some slightly odd judgements made this time around I think it's fair to say but I won't complain much longer - I am PR5 now after all and that's only going to help me move forwards. I just can't help but think that sites like TorqueToday don't deserve to be PR4 - and I run the site! There are no backlinks besides this site and very little content.
It's an odd world Google is creating... Very odd indeed.
